Summer House is located a block from the beach at the north end of Seaside. It is in a quiet residential area away from the hubbub of the town center, but only a 15-minute walk along either the Promenade or along the shoreline into town.

The B&B is also a couple blocks from the 12th Street Bridge, which is a well known spot for crabbing.

Along Broadway, which is the main street in downtown Seaside, there are many cute shops, art galleries, restaurants, ice cream and treat shops, bumper cars, an indoor carousel with fun shops in the same venue. The street is lined with starfish lights.

Seaside is where Lewis and Clark ended their expedition.  There is a statue of them at the Circle at the end of Broadway where it ends at the beach.

The Necanicum River runs through Seaside and during the summer you can rent paddle boats and kayaks, but you can launch your own right next to the Convention Center as well.

Astoria is about a 20 minute drive to the north and is where the Columbia River meets the Ocean.  It is  also where Kindergarten Cop and Goonies was filmed.  It is a maritime town where many Craftsman and Victorian homes are built into the hills above the River.  Downtown has many antique stores, some delicious craft breweries/restaurants, and fun shops.  There is a trolley that runs during the summer.  There are large tankers on the Columbia River that are led in by small pilot boats to keep the tankers and large ships from getting stuck on the many shifting sand bars.

Cannon Beach is the next town to the south of Seaside, known for its Haystack Rock and another beautiful beach.  The town has many delicious restaurants and nice shops.

Ecola State Park is right next to Cannon Beach and has gorgeous views above the ocean, but then you can hike down to several different beaches through the woods. There are some wonderful beaches within a 30 minute drive to the south, where there are waterfalls and caves and agate hunting.

From the 1.5-mile long oceanfront Promenade to the Historic Tillamook Head Trail, there's a path easy enough for almost any Seaside visitor. http://www.seasideor.com/hiking/
